Some call it a caterpillar, others a cookie duster, and it has even been referred to as a lip toupee … you’ll probably call it a moustache, and this Movember, local real estate agents, Ray White Southbank, are growing theirs to raise funds for men’s mental and physical health.
Established in 2003, the Movember movement, has grown from 30 moustaches to five million, and in the process has raised more than $1 billion.
According to principal of Ray White Southbank, Andrew Salvo, they are joining this year’s fundraising drive because “as an office and team, mental and physical health is something that we really try to focus on and support each other.” “Mental health, especially in men, is something that isn’t spoken out loud about as there is often a stigma around it so it’s kept hush hush,” Mr Salvo said.
“Movember is an inclusive and fun way to raise awareness to the broader community about men’s health. Movember uses the donations to fund men’s health programs and they provide easy access to information on how to seek support, guidance and help with whatever life throws men’s way.”
“Our team want to be open and transparent as we have all experienced loss and grief and feel it is a very important cause to get behind.”
We have a very diverse team with different stories and backgrounds, and we are all coming together with a common goal and involving our local clients and community to get behind our Mo Bro’s and try to make a difference while raising awareness and having a laugh along the way.”
The Ray White team will be handing out flyers at open homes and are asking the community to get on board and snap a photo with their billboard on the corner of Clarendon St and City Rd.
You can follow and tag them on Instagram @raywhitesouthbank. For every story or post they are tagged in, their office will donate $10 and credit the donation to the person who has posted the photo.
