August 30th marks 178 years since the city of Melbourne was founded. It was the historical day that the first European settlers landed on the north bank of the Yarra River from the schooner Enterprize in 1835.
Melbourne day is meant for all to come together and celebrate, not only the day of Melbournes founding, but also the time at which the proud community of Melbourne began.
Melbourne is of course one of the most liveable cities in Australia. With Melbourne voted third among cities in Australia (voted by The Australian).
Tomorrow all are welcome to join Lord Mayor Robert Doyle at 10am for the official flag raising ceremony. There will be live entertainment, rifle volley and a cannon fire. Also, morning tea will be served.
So come one, come all, to celebrate one of the most Memorable dates for Melbourne city.
