Cakes for a cause

After a five-year hiatus, Ray White Southbank’s Biggest Morning Tea was back this year, raising $1422 to make a difference for those impacted by cancer.

Old recipe books were dusted off and diets were paused while the team at Ray White Southbank hosted a full house of suppliers and trades as part of the Cancer Council Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea on May 19.

Ray White Southbank principal, Andrew Salvo, said after a tough few years it was great to get everyone back together in the name of charity.
“Our staff did a great job putting together whole bunch of dishes, snacks and goodies, and the support and donations from our trades was great to see,” Mr Salvo said.

The vital funds raised will go towards research, prevention and support services for those affected by cancer, with the Cancer Council hoping to raise more than $12 million.  Mr Salvo said his team was already planning its next charitable event with eyes on August “Jeans For Genes” day.

“We do charitable events all throughout the year, whether it’s our annual ‘A little Ray of giving’ where we gather gifts from our community including landlords, tenants and our staff, for children of homeless people, or our work with Launch Housing and the Mirabel Foundation,”

Mr Salvo said. “You’ll be able to see our whole team looking pretty goofy in double-denim for Jeans For Genes day. They will be holding open for inspections for a week in their outfits and we will have a big team photo plastered across our windows on City Rd.”
